Well Pandeia is off and running! Welcome, and thanks for stopping by. You know, it’s quite strange to think that only a few years ago, getting any sort of website up was considered a big deal. Getting one which looked slick and professional meant you had money to burn. And now look at what some guy like me can pump out of his spare room! A fully-produced, slickly packaged web comic.
It’s all largely thanks to what people on the internet getting out there and creating new protocols, new software and new ways of connecting a storyteller with an audience. As a result, the audience is sometimes made up of storytellers, others who wish to learn from you about how you go about the craft, and this fosters a community of people who are both creators and consumers. Competition is fostered in a healthy, supportive environment.
It’s also thanks to the folks who’ve gone before that I could get this comic looking the way that I wanted, and I learned from them what works as far as releasing and creating goes.

I am really enjoying this comic-making shtick. I’ve created a workflow which fits into my day-to-day life and the mundane necessity of earning a living, so I can create pages to release on a fairly stable schedule.

Even though it’s taken a lot of work to get to this point, there is still much left to do. I’m still getting my head around this comicpress thing, and you might notice some odd changes every now and again. I’ve tinkered enough, though, to keep this blog separate from the front page, so that all you get is awesome comic-page goodness, and if you subscribe to the feed, or just come by here and feel like reading the blog posts, there’ll be a menu item which keeps the blog separate from that.

I’ve not got about 3 pages up, a small handful in the bag, and the rest of the first chapter is thumb-nailed and in production. So I think it’s time to get out there and do some marketing. First off, I am trying to get a ranking on a couple of web-comic sites. If you wanna help me out and spread the word, if you like what you read here, are think this art should be shared, I’ve made it pretty easy for you.

Firstly, you can click on this banner right here:

This will take you directly to the voting page for my very obscure comic (at this stage it’s somewhere down the list of several hundred). Vote me up if you think I’m worth it! There’s a smaller banner on the righthand side of the site, so you can click on that, too, but this banner is just to explain what that is.

Secondly, above every page is a small button with the words “comic rank”. click on that, and let that site know you read me. I’m still awaiting approval to appear on their list, but a few more readers telling them about me should get their attention.

Finally – and this is only if you want to share this with people on sites like facebook, digg and twitter, there’s a universal “share” icon below every page. click on that, and the sharing network of your choice will be represented down there. Share Pandeia around and let people know about my comic.

I’ll be making a few more ways available soon. For instance, I have linked in a new twitter account – @pandeiacomic – so that when there’s a post here, it will automatically go out on twitter, so if that’s your thing rather than old-school RSS, you can find out when I update through twitter.

Cheers, guys. I hope to be able to do one blogpost a week (around Wednesday) so this site doesn’t get too stagnant between Sundays.

You guys rock!
