CORBEN WALLACE: Navigator for the Sandboat, Selina. Corben lost his sight when only ten years old. Desperate to save his vision, his father requested a drastic operation only reserved for clerics of the Theian archives. Corben’s vision was restored, but he was committed to a path he did not choose. Corben’s curiosity seemed endless as a boy, so his father taught him how to be observant of the world around him. “The world provides answers, should you ever seek them” he always used to say, “but few have the courage to look.”
THOLEMO CETUS: Corben’s boyhood friend, and War Museum curator. A boisterous and brash character, Tholemo loves nothing more than spending an evening at the local watering holes discussing the war with veterans, dreaming he could have been behind the wheel of one of the famed sandboats. When Corben reveals a plan to steal Selina and pilot it deep into the heart of the Cadian desert, Tholemo immediately wants in.
MINAULD WALLACE: Corben’s daughter. Minauld was raised in a boarding college and studied ancient languages and history. To pay her way through her studies, she took up part-time work as a mechanic, fixing and restoring relics at the Theian War Museum. She was often mistaken for a boy, and this hurt her deeply, but she found solace and peace when working on a puzzle or problem mechanical in nature. The more challenging the problem, the greater her satisfaction when solved. No name calling could dampen her spirits after such a high.
“SHOOTER”: Hot-headed, impulsive and hard-ass. Shooter has lived in the Cadian desert for as long as she can remember. She has a vendetta against the native traders which she carries out by thwarting any control they have in keeping the outside nations at bay.
RAGTAG: Shooter’s brother. Highly gifted, an affinity for technology, but shy and easily persuaded. He follows his sister because she is all he has left in the world, but is never forthcoming of her actions. prefers to go along with her because any plan is better than none.
MARCUS BLAIR: Marcus Blair has worked for Mason Corp for over 20 years. 15 years ago, he almost lost his job when his partner was denied asylum and was deported back to Tsuki-Yama, Marcus attempted (unsuccessfully) to cross the Cadian desert and find her. He was incarcerated, given a deal, and put back to work on the West-Cadian Ridge. He learned quickly this was the best place to discover news from the other city-states via the underground network of Cadian pilferers and spies who dared cross the border for information and technology. In order to keep this privileged position, he worked hard to become the best vent survey specialist on the Ridge.
DAVID WINFIELD: Ambassador for Mason Corp, Winfield is paid an obscene salary to make sure the company’s interests are protected worldwide. He appears polite, well-spoken, and an all-round model citizen… but whatever needs doing – no matter how morally grey – Winfield gets it done.
SALMAN WEDGE: A lowly Vent-mining grunt, greasy, rough, rude and sardonic, Wedge has little interest in what people think of him. He is streetwise, and understands all too well wheels of gleaming wheels of industry don’t run smoothly without a great deal of blood, grease, and many other things people would rather turn a blind eye to.
AZIZ: A Cadian information trader, and protector of a great many secrets. There are many things he is sworn to protect, and Aziz uses a vast network of spies to aid in his task. Intruders are not dealt with lightly, and even if he has to bend a few rules here and there, in general his people forgive his unorthodox methods because the ends always justify the means.
